Why Cowbridge homeowners are switching to renewables
Cowbridge is Wales's smartest market town, a walled Roman settlement turned Georgian gem where the high street still runs with independent butchers, wine merchants, and the sort of deli that makes Cardiff commuters jealous. The wider Cowbridge area stretches out into the Vale of Glamorgan's fertile farmland — Llansannor, Llanblethian, St Hilary, Aberthin — and this combination of well-off town residents and substantial rural farmsteads makes it one of the highest-value property catchments in South Wales. The Vale of Glamorgan Council's Project Zero climate plan applies here as firmly as it does in Barry, but the renewables conversation in CF71 is a little different: larger properties, bigger roof areas, more agricultural outbuildings, and customers who are typically willing to invest in premium system tiers that deliver proper whole-property energy independence. Listed buildings and conservation-area work are a bigger share of the design challenge here, and we regularly spec in-roof or low-profile panel layouts for the Georgian and Victorian properties where visual impact is taken seriously.
Solar PV in Cowbridge
Cowbridge's countryside exposure gives it excellent solar yields — bettered in South Wales only by the exposed Gower and Bristol Channel coasts. Larger plot sizes mean 6kW-plus systems are common, and for farm properties out toward Llansannor and St Hilary we regularly design 10 to 20kW arrays with three-phase SolarEdge or Fronius inverters. Conservation-area properties in the town centre often require in-roof integration (Solrif or GSE); we've done many of these and have good working relationships with the Vale's conservation officers. A well-designed Cowbridge 6kW array typically generates 5,000 to 5,400 kWh a year.

Battery storage in Cowbridge
Premium battery work is a large share of our Cowbridge installs. Customers with big rural properties, heat pumps, and multi-EV households routinely justify 20 to 40kWh of storage, which pushes us toward SigEnergy stacked banks or Tesla Powerwall 3 pairs. For townhouses inside the walls, where basement or garage space is tight, we use wall-mounted SigEnergy ATOMs. Intelligent Octopus plus a proper battery routinely delivers sub-10p average import costs for these homes, on top of keeping the freezer, the heating, and the EV ready through any grid event.

EV chargers in Cowbridge
Cowbridge's rural catchment, long daily commutes into Cardiff, and multi-car households make home charging absolutely standard here. We install plenty of Zappi V2 units for the solar-diversion use case and Tesla Wall Connectors for Tesla households who value the integration. Three-phase homes with dedicated EV supplies are more common in CF71 than anywhere else in our coverage area, and for farms we've wired 22kW three-phase chargers with their own dedicated circuits. Quiet, solar-led driving is the norm.
