Blue Electrics Ltd ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use our website or get in touch, why we collect it, and what your rights are under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
The data controller is Blue Electrics Ltd, Blue HQ, Brunel Way, Neath, SA11 2FP. You can reach us by phone on 0333 444 5553 or by email at info@blueelectrics.co.uk.
What we collect
- Contact form submissions. When you complete the form on our contact page, we collect your name, email address, phone number (if provided), subject, and message. We also log the IP address and user-agent of the submission for security and abuse prevention.
- Direct emails and phone calls. If you contact us by email or phone, we keep a record of that correspondence so we can respond and follow up.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) keeps standard access logs — IP address, request URL, referer, timestamp, user-agent. These are used for security, debugging, and aggregated analytics.
We do not run advertising trackers, social-media pixels, or third-party analytics that identify individuals.
Why we collect it
- To respond to your enquiry (legal basis: legitimate interests — responding to prospective and existing customers).
- To provide a quote or carry out work you've asked us to (legal basis: contract).
- To prevent spam and abuse of our contact form (legal basis: legitimate interests — security).
- To meet legal obligations, including accounting and tax records (legal basis: legal obligation).
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't lead to work: up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Customer records for completed jobs: 7 years (to meet HMRC, warranty, and MCS/RECC record-keeping requirements).
- Server access logs: 30 days (Cloudflare default).
Who we share it with
We only share your data with third parties when necessary to do the work:
- Cloudflare Inc. — website hosting, DDoS protection, and contact-form processing (Cloudflare Pages Functions and Cloudflare Turnstile for spam filtering).
- MailChannels — transactional email delivery for contact-form messages.
- Our accountants and HMRC — where legally required for invoicing, VAT, and company filings.
- MCS, RECC, TrustMark, NAPIT, Octopus Energy (Trusted Partner scheme) and DNO bodies — where your installation requires registration, notification, or is connected to an Octopus referral.
We will never sell your personal data to anyone.
Third-party content
Our website embeds YouTube videos through YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). No cookies are set until you press play. If you do interact with a video, YouTube (Google LLC) receives standard playback data as described in their own privacy policy.
Our contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a cookieless CAPTCHA alternative, to block automated spam. Turnstile does not track you across other sites.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You can ask us to:
- Provide a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct any information that's wrong or incomplete.
- Delete your personal data where we have no continuing legal basis to hold it.
- Restrict or object to our processing.
- Receive your data in a portable format (where applicable).
To exercise any of these rights, email info@blueelectrics.co.uk. We'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your personal data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113.
