TrustMark Registered

The only government-endorsed quality scheme for work carried out in and around your home

What Is TrustMark?

TrustMark is the UK government's endorsed quality scheme for tradespeople and businesses working in and around the home. Launched with the backing of the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (now the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero), TrustMark provides homeowners with a single, trusted mark that identifies quality, competent, and trustworthy tradespeople.

Unlike self-declared accreditations or paid directory listings, TrustMark registration requires businesses to be vetted by an approved scheme operator, meet defined standards of technical competence, carry appropriate insurance, and demonstrate good trading practices. Businesses must be re-assessed regularly to maintain their registration.

TrustMark is particularly significant in the energy efficiency and renewable energy sectors because it is a mandatory requirement for businesses carrying out work under government-funded energy efficiency programmes, including the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme and the Great British Insulation Scheme. For homeowners accessing government support, choosing a TrustMark-registered business is not optional — it's essential.

Why Does TrustMark Matter?

🏛️

Government Endorsed

TrustMark is not a private scheme or trade association — it is endorsed by the UK government as the quality standard for home improvement and repair work. This government backing means TrustMark standards are developed in consultation with industry, consumer groups, and regulators, ensuring they genuinely protect homeowners.

🔐

TrustMark Guarantee for Lodged Work

When work is lodged with TrustMark (recorded on the TrustMark data warehouse), it comes with access to the TrustMark Guarantee. This provides financial protection if the registered business ceases to trade before completing the work or during the guarantee period. Your deposit and guarantee are protected, giving you a genuine financial safety net.

💰

Required for Government Funding

If you're accessing government energy efficiency funding — such as the ECO scheme, Green Deal, or the Great British Insulation Scheme — the work must be carried out by a TrustMark-registered business. Without TrustMark, you cannot access these schemes, potentially missing out on thousands of pounds of funding support.

⚖️

Dispute Resolution

TrustMark provides access to an independent dispute resolution service. If you have a complaint that cannot be resolved directly with the business, TrustMark's process ensures fair, impartial assessment. Registered businesses are required to cooperate with this process, and decisions can be binding.

The TrustMark Framework

TrustMark operates through a network of approved scheme operators who vet and monitor registered businesses. For Blue Electrics, our TrustMark registration is linked to our scheme operator accreditations, creating a layered system of quality assurance:

  • Technical competence: Our team's qualifications and skills are verified by our scheme operator (NAPIT) and monitored through regular assessments
  • Financial standing: TrustMark requires businesses to demonstrate financial stability and carry appropriate levels of public liability insurance
  • Good trading practices: Registered businesses must comply with consumer protection laws, maintain proper contracts, and follow fair trading practices
  • Customer feedback: TrustMark monitors customer satisfaction through feedback systems and complaint records, taking action where standards are not met
  • Data lodging: For energy efficiency and renewable energy work, installations are lodged on the TrustMark data warehouse, creating a permanent record of work quality and compliance

What This Means for You

Choosing a TrustMark-registered business like Blue Electrics provides you with concrete protections and advantages:

  • Government-backed trust — you're choosing a business that meets the standards set by the UK government's own quality scheme, not just an industry trade body
  • Financial protection — for lodged work, the TrustMark Guarantee protects your deposit and guarantee if anything goes wrong, including business cessation
  • Access to funding schemes — if you're eligible for ECO funding, the Great British Insulation Scheme, or other government energy programmes, our TrustMark registration means you can access them through us
  • A permanent record of your installation — when we lodge work with TrustMark, it creates a verified record of what was installed, by whom, and to what standard. This is valuable when selling your property or making insurance claims
  • Independent recourse — if a dispute arises that we can't resolve directly (which is rare), TrustMark's independent dispute resolution gives you a fair, impartial process
  • Adds value to your property — having TrustMark-lodged work on record can increase buyer confidence when selling, as it provides verified evidence of quality improvements

How Blue Electrics Maintains TrustMark Status

Maintaining TrustMark registration is an ongoing process that requires consistent standards across every aspect of our business:

Scheme operator compliance: We maintain our accreditation with NAPIT, our approved scheme operator, through regular assessments and ongoing compliance monitoring. NAPIT verifies our technical competence, insurance cover, and business practices as a condition of our TrustMark registration.

Data lodging: For qualifying work, we lodge installation details on the TrustMark data warehouse. This includes the type of work carried out, products installed, and relevant certifications. This data lodging activates the TrustMark Guarantee protections for our customers.

Customer satisfaction focus: We actively monitor customer satisfaction and respond promptly to any concerns. Our high standards of communication, workmanship, and aftercare help maintain our TrustMark standing and, more importantly, keep our customers happy.

Continuous improvement: TrustMark standards evolve over time as new regulations, technologies, and best practices emerge. We stay current with these changes through ongoing training and professional development, ensuring we always meet or exceed the latest requirements.
